A good collage warms my little heart. So much. There is just something so great about different textures, different papers, different colour tones, all coming together in the one image. Like all these elements mixing together to create something even more magnificent. That’s what they call synergy.
And I love the hard work that goes into perfecting them. Surely it is a real art to perfectly curate and collect images and then put them together in the most beautiful of ways.
Collages keep popping up everywhere I go, and I think it’s trying to tell me something. Yep, I’ve just got to get back into it. New hobby. Post-birthday sketchbook is ready to go, I have a bunch of trashy magazines waiting for the scissors.
If only I had the guts to chop up poor Frankie – it would make for some hot collages, but she is an artwork in herself. Maybe to the photocopier I will go.
Sammy Slabbinck is just one of these inspiring collage artists, putting vintage photos together to create something completely new. Check them out. I could have posted every single one of them here because they take my breath away so much. You might just get inspired too.
