For today’s breakfast adventure / post-swimming treat we ventured to the Groundskeeper Cafe, hidden deep in the burbs. It’s such an unseemly place, but then you enter the park and you enter another world. So Secret Garden-ish, with an old gazebo smack bang in the middle. The Middle Eastern food there is ridiculously good. I’m so glad the shakshouka has taken off so massively here – a meal with all the best things mixed into one little clay pot.
It got me all thinking about fashion designers coming out of this region and the unique silhouettes and patterns offered – my Middle Eastern fashion bonanza with Elie Saab is now a thing. The Lebanese designer knows how to make women look and feel beautiful (the new Oscar de la Renta?).
The latest collection definitely hails back to the orangey desert tones and the azure Mediterranean, coming together to create beauty. So flowy and magical, I can imagine mermaids would wear this kind of thing. No more words even needed, just use your eyes.
