I’ve always recognised the face of Rachel Rutt – a regular icon in Russh and Oyster, breaking the fashion world mould with Singaporean x English background. Then she reached the next level in my files when I finally uncovered her woollen skills in a whimsical Oyster shoot. Knitwear has never looked so cool. Not just a pretty face, but also a dream weaver and fabric queen – a lady doing magical things with her life.
The greatest thing I have learnt from this model (who is in fact younger than me, scary) is to have fun and be your own person in this insane world. I don’t know what she’s like in real life, but if she is at all similar to the characters she portrays in fashion shoots, or the crazy being of her Instagram, she is someone to be admired. She created a knitted balaclava, complete with a wig-like topping, thigh-high woollen socks, and a dress inspired by jellyfish – case in point.
My biggest battle right now is the decision to show her wonderful face, her crazy creations, or both below. Scroll down to see the winner.
