oh the irony :: an underdog story.

If you had told me seven years ago, while completing the HSC, that I would now be taking part in a fashion writing mentorship with Janice Breen-Burns and VAMFF, I would have laughed in your face. I would have made you feel stupid and offended with that evil teenage ability. Clearly it is now I who deserves that unwelcoming laugh.

I’m sure my English teachers are also cackling ( they do indeed ‘cackle’ ) – more out of disbelief than anything. The girl who couldn’t construct an essay, who couldn’t finish reading Julius Caesar ( pray tell me, who actually could? ) and literally put a teacher to sleep while reading an assignment ( me sitting right by her side throughout ), now holds this huge, overwhelming opportunity in her hands. How times change. Life always throws you a little curveball when you least expect, coming to love the thing you once detested.

Watch this space because lessons will be learnt, tears will probably be shed, and inspiration will flow in abundance. Starting with some unique layering opportunities, ready for implementation tomorrow. Because the layers want to come out to play for summer too.
